Milan – Italy’s Glamour, Fashion, Shopping and Art Epicentre

11 July 2010 No Comment

Milan in northern Italy has a population of about 1,3 million people. Milan is a thriving cosmopolitan city and what makes Milan interesting compared to other Italian cities is that Milan is all about enjoying life. Milan is a paradise for fashion, shopping, soccer, opera, and nightlife. Art and history is everywhere in Milan. Milan has an ancient city center dating back to the roman times with many historic important buildings and palazzos. Milan is synonymous with Italian fashion – fashion aficionados, supermodels and international paparazzi flock to Milan twice every year for its spring and autumn fashion shows.

While some may consider Milan a workaday city of business and banking, Milan is home to Italy’s stock exchange, its rank as Italy’s fashion center gives it some cachet, as do its cultural pinnacles such as La Scala Opera and Leonardo da Vinci’s iconic “Last Supper” fresco.

Alongside Paris Milan is Europe’s fashion couture hub, a mecca for designers, artists, photographers and models. Many world famous fashion houses reside in Milan, such as Armani, Versace, Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, Pucci, GucciArt.
